Latest IBM i roadmap

When I find these IBM i Roadmaps I always like to share them with you.

The next time someone tells you that "AS400" or "iSeries" is old, show them this chart. Explain that IBM i is a thoroughly modern operating system, and its creator, IBM, has plans for new releases into the next decade.

I don't know of another operating system vendor who provides similar information.

I copied this from the IBM Modernizing IBM i Applications Redbook.

  1. When people tell me AS/400 is old, after reminding them it's been discontinued 13 years ago, I inform them that it was released 3 years before linux and 3 years *after* Windows... it's funny everytime!

  2. I cringe whenever our end users insist on calling it all the AS400, but I can't get any one to change.

    1. I simply insist when associates are working with me on any system issue, they use "IBM i". If they don't, I gently remind them and constantly reinforce "IBM i", not AS400. They do it by habit and habits can be broken.
