The announcement for the latest round of Technology Refreshes for IBM i has been announced for 7.5 (TR1) and 7.5 (TR7). The planned availability date for these is November 21
Having given the announcement and enhancement information a quick read I see lot more useful changes for us.
The Db2 for i enhancements that caught my eye were:
- CERTIFICATE_USAGE_INFO: Returns information about applications that use certifications and the related certificate information
- QIBM_SELF_BY_DAYS: Global variable that will allow for the automatic purging of rows from the SQL_ERRORT, SELF Error Log, table
- QIBM_SYSIXADV_BY_DAYS: Global variable that will allow for automatic purging of rows from the SYSIXADV, System Index Advisor, table
I did not notice that there are some additional enhancements to existing SQL services in IBM i 7.6 TR1 that are not provided in 7.5 TR7:
- CHANGE_DISK_PATHS
- GROUP_PTF_INFO
- SERVER_SHARE_INFO
- GROUP_PTF_CURRENCY
There is also one enhanced SQL service provided to IBM i 7.5 TR7 that is not mention in the document for 7.6 TR1:
- ASP_INFO
Is this true? Or is it just an oversight in the IBM i 7.6 TR1 documentation?
There are several enhancements to RPG too. The one that caught my eye may not be considered a big deal by many people, but I think it will prove very useful to us all. The diagnostic message in the compile listing will now have the full name of the variable, instead of the name being truncated.
Another significant change to RPG is the introduction of new date formats: *YYMD, *MDYY, and *DMYY. These will use the "/" as the separator character.
Others that caught my eye were:
- More enhancement to Navigator for i
- Number of what looks like useful changes to BRMS
- New version of the IWS server
- Development Kit for Java now includes support for Java21 64 bit

The PTFs for RPG are just given as "PTF number to be updated later".
